The path to happiness is simple...

Have good thoughts,
speak good words, and
do one good deed a day!

Sheila Tallon

I completed a Diploma in Special Care Counselling at Vanier College in 1987. I then attended McGill University and completed both my undergraduate (1989) and  Master’s degrees in Social Work (1991). I’m a published author, public speaker and have experience providing clinical supervision and mentoring for university and college students.

Welcome to my website.

I’m a registered Social Worker M.S.W., R.S.W. with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and also a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers (OASW). These governing bodies ensure that your rights are protected when you enter into a counselling/therapeutic relationship. For over 20 years, I’ve been providing counselling services to children, youth, adults and families of different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Over the course of my career, I’ve worked in a:
     - Residential treatment facilities for at-risk children and youth
     - Community hospital settings
     - Residential drug and alcohol treatment facilities
     - Community-based programs for adult victims of sexual abuse
     - Educational facilities
     - Government facilities

Working with children, youth, adults and families has shown me that when individuals feel safe, respected, heard and appreciated for who they are, they respond to life challenges with creativity and resilience. My practice is guided by these core values. I take great care to create an ambiance where a genuine human connection takes place.

“You can't go back
and change the beginning,
but you can start where you are
and change the ending.”
